Visitor Visa

This visa lets you to travel to Australia as a visitor, for business purposes or to visit family and can be given for three months, six or twelve months. You can apply in or outside Australia. 

Tourist stream (apply in or outside Australia)

This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to see family and friends or for purposes other than business or medical treatment.

You must intend to stay in Australia to visit only and have enough money for your stay in Australia

You can stay up to 12 months 

Sponsored family stream

This visa stream lets people who are sponsored, usually by a family member, come to Australia to visit their family members. You must be sponsored by an eligible family member who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Your sponsor might be asked to pay a security bond.

You must have, or have access to, enough money to support yourself while you are in Australia.

With this visa you can study or train for up to 3 months and can stay up to 12 months.

Business visitor stream

This visa stream lets you visit Australia for business reasons. 

You can make a short visit for business visitor reasons, but you can’t work or sell goods or services. You can negotiate contracts or take part in a conference or trade fair. 

You must have, or have access to, enough money to support yourself while you are in Australia.

You must be outside Australia when you apply and when your application is decided.

You can stay up to 12 months 

Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 870)

This is a temporary visa enables parents or step-parents of settled Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens to visit their children for up to 3 or 5 years.

This visa especially for parents who can not meet the requirements of any parent visa and would like to spend longer time with children in Australia.

You can visit Australia for up to 3 or 5 years at a time and reapply for another 3 or 5 years. You can apply for further visas to visit up to a maximum period in Australia of 10 years. You must be outside Australia for at least 90 days before being eligible to be granted another Sponsored Parent visa, unless you have Permission to Apply in Australia.

You cannot work in Australia while holding this visa. You must have, or have access to, enough money to support yourself while you are in Australia.

You cannot include family members in your visa application.

You must have an approved Parent Sponsor to apply for this visa. Your sponsor’s household is limited to one sponsorship at a time.

Sponsors must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be resident in Australia for at least 4 years
  • Sponsors will need to have a taxable income of at least $83,454.80 – it can be a combined income of partners
